Fears and Phobias
What is a phobia? How do you know if you have one? Phobias are intense, irrational fears of objects, people, animals, and places or situations that have their roots in our subconscious. For example, you may not be a cat lover, but you can be around cats without too much problem. Someone with a fear or phobia about cats literally would not be able to stay in an area where a cat was also staying. In some extreme cases, this person might experience symptoms of their phobia by just seeing a picture of a cat.
As you can imagine, phobias certainly interfere with your ability to live a normal life. Those suffering with phobias are so immobilized by their irrational fear, they begin to avoid situations that would put them in the path of the person, place or thing they are afraid of.
A phobic’s life usually becomes severely limited without treatment. Approximately 1 in every 10 people experience bouts with troublesome anxiety or real phobias during their lifetimes. Unfortunately, few of those seek professional help.
How Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy Treat a Variety of Phobias:
- Using trance to re-aligning your thought processes and replace the negative emotion of anxiety with the positive emotions of confidence and calm thoughts.
- Exposing you slowly and cautiously to the very thing you are afraid of. This is called desensitization.
- Therapy to discover why you are afraid of this in the first place
- Using hypnosis techniques to counteract anxiety ad replace that feeling with confidence in yourself and your ability to control this irrational emotion
- Teaching you how to react in the future should you come into contact with the person, place or thing that gives rise to your irrational fear.
